The State Government of Adamawa will start immunizing young girls between the ages of nine and fourteen against the Human Papilloma Virus, which causes cervical cancer in women, on Monday in an effort to lower the death rate of women in the state.
Dr. Suleiman Bashir, the director of the state’s primary healthcare agency, said this on Friday in Yola.
The practice, according to Bashir, will start on Monday throughout the state’s 21 local council regions.
According to him, the immunization should continue for five days.
The vaccination is risk-free, cost-free, and useful. The best way to prevent cervical cancer is with a vaccination. He said, “The HPV vaccine gives the best protection, but ladies older than 15 must go through screening before they are vaccinated.
He noted that cervical cancer is the most commonest cancer in women
“Across the state, thousands of girls are anticipated to receive vaccinations. Although there is no known treatment for cancer, it can be avoided with the right precautions. He spoke.
However, he advised all parents of females in the specified age range to enable their kids to receive the vaccinations.
Additionally, he guaranteed that the immunizers would visit every home to ensure thorough and extensive coverage.
