Oyo FRSC Chairman Warns Personnel Against Corruption And Unethical Behavior

The commander further stated that the FRSC has zero tolerance for corruption and is devoted to professionalism in carrying out its job.

In order to provide effective service, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned officers against unprofessional and corrupt acts.

Meshach Jatau, the FRSC Zonal Commander in charge of Oyo, Osun, and Ondo states, issued the warning during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Osogbo. According to the commander, the FRSC has zero tolerance for corruption and is devoted to professionalism in carrying out its job.

He warned corps members to be cautious of operational dangers for their own safety. “You are aware that we are opposed to bribery, and the corps is dedicated to guaranteeing Highway sanity and safety.

“Our officers are aware that we expect them to protect the corps’ image, which is why we encourage them to take their pre-patrol briefings seriously.”

“This will prepare their mindset and ensure that enforcement operations are carried out in line with established guidelines,” he went on to say.

Jatau remarked that the FRSC in the zone will continue to educate authorities and road users about the importance of road safety. He stated that it was the responsibility of road users and corps officers to guarantee safer routes during the Ember Months.

“This year, we intend to do better.” In the last months of 2022, no fewer than 215 people were killed in around 521 road accidents in the zone.

“Also, During the period, a total of 1,345 people were injured in varying degrees around the zone.

“We are committed to reducing this figures by 50% in the 2023 ember month season,” he went on to say.

Jatau further stated that the zone will continue to take action against unlicensed drivers in order to protect road users’ lives.
