The declaration was made by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who pronounced that with Ubah’s entrance into the APC, the decision party had effectively conquered the Southeast.
Akpabio handed over Ubah to APC National Chairman Dr Abdullahi Ganduje during a ceremonial presentation ceremony, marking a watershed event in Nigerian politics.
Ganduje, obviously pleased with the achievement, emphasized the need of political unity in the Southeast, which is now ruled by four distinct political parties throughout its five states.
Ganduje voiced alarm about the political landscape’s fragmentation, claiming that it was not in the best interests of the Southeastern states. Ganduje feels that with Ubah’s defection, the APC now has the impetus to challenge the existing quo and seize control of the region’s remaining three states.
“This is the biggest fish I’ve ever caught.” The concept of marginalisation is contentious. Let’s explore what’s going on in the southeast. Three of the five states are governed by several political parties. We have PDP, LP, APGA, and two more APC.
“Now, a geopolitical zone composed of five states ruled by four political parties.” Is this a sense of belonging? Is this a feeling of communal decision to engage in national politics? No. We’re starting to see the solution now. “We will start a revolution,” Ganduje vowed.
Senator Ubah promised the APC of his ongoing commitment to deliver not only his district but the whole Southeastern region to the ruling party in his address. He attributed his choice to join the APC to President Bola Tinubu’s exceptional leadership and political magnanimity.
