Tanko slammed the notion as a comedy from hell in a statement made in Abuja on Monday, October 16, 2023, stating Obi and his late brother did not pursue the same subject at the University of Nigeria (UNN).
Abayomi Arabambi, the spokesman for the Labour Party group, recently claimed that the former Governor of Anambra State’s academic qualifications were flawed.
Arabambi alleged on an AIT broadcast on Thursday, October 12, 2023, that Obi’s UNN certificate carries a name that varies from the one on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
He made the claim after Obi summoned President Bola Tinubu and asked him to reintroduce himself to Nigerians. Arabambi said in his allegation that Obi was being unjust to Tinubu since he also had errors in his academic qualifications. Arabambi described it as unfair.
Tanko responded to the charge leveled against the Labour Party presidential candidate by describing Arabambi as one of Tinubu’s lawless adventurers paid to disrespect Obi with fabrications.
“In his capacity as Labour Party standard bearer, Obi had innocently advised the embattled President to rest the certificate-gate around him and save the country further embarrassment by reintroducing himself and clearing the records.”
“A simple patriotic advisory informed by belief in anything related to national development, but their hirelings, freebooters, and lawless adventurers would rather insult our candidate with fabrications.”
“They claimed in one of his works of fiction that Obi was impersonating his dead senior brother; a farce, slapstick comedy from hell.” Obi’s oldest brother is
alive. “One of his senior brothers who died was a year ahead of Obi at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, studying Computer Science while Obi studied Philosophy,” Tanko added.
Tanko went on to call LP factional leader Lamidi Apapa a “political hirelings and buccaneers engaged in menial work of character assassination to ostensibly soil the name of our Presidential candidate.”
He insisted that Apapa and Arabambi were no longer Labour Party members.
