Gunmen Kill Two Police Officers in Imo Yet Again

On Monday, gunmen attacked and killed two police officers and a young man at Ahiara Junction in Imo’s Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area (LGA).

According to SOUTHERNROBIN, the suspected killer squad opened fire on security personnel who were reportedly at the junction for routine security checks.

According to an eyewitness who requested anonymity, a yet-to-be-identified man died from a stray bullet during the attack, which occurred around midday.

“When the gunmen arrived, they opened fire on the police officers, killing two on the spot.”

“A stray bullet also struck a young man, who died on the spot. “This is very unfortunate,” said the source.

When contacted, ASP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident.

The command, according to Okoye, had declared a manhunt for the fleeing gunmen.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, Commander 34 Artillery Brigade and Joint Task Force (JTF) operatives are presently combing the scene of the crime for evidence that will possibly lead to the arrest of the hoodlums responsible for the attack,” the Commissioner of Police said in a statement to SOUTHERNROBIN

The PPRO also confirmed the kidnapping and murder of Eze Joe Ochulor, the Traditional Ruler of Otulu Autonomous Community in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, on Saturday.

Ochulor was kidnapped in his palace on Saturday morning and later found dead in a nearby community in Aboh Mbaise LGA.

SOUTHERNROBIN also recalls that on September 19, unidentified gunmen attacked a joint security task force at Umualumaku is located in the state’s Mbano LGA During the attack, the thugs killed and burned at least five security guards.
