The Taraba State Police Command has pledged to stay neutral and professional during the state’s local government elections on Saturday.
The command spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, told our correspondent on Fridays in Jalingo that personnel and officers had already been dispatched to polling locations distributed throughout the state’s sixteen local government councils.
According to the Public Relations Officer, PPRO, police officers have also been deployed to collation centers throughout the local government offices.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police briefed all Area Commandants, Divisional Police Officers, and DPOs on how to conduct the election on Thursday.
According to the PPRO, the commissioner “asked the police to behave properly.” He also asked them to maintain civility as well as to protect human dignity.”
According to the PPRO, the Commissioner, Joseph Eribo, has also advised politicians to avoid activities that might spark dust before, during, and after the election.
He advised lawmakers not to engage in harsh politics, stating “the command under his command cannot tolerate political thuggery.”
