After months of speculation, the Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara, will today, Monday, swear in Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie as Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, and five special advisers.
The arrangement of Ehie as Head of Staff, Government House, was affirmed in an explanation endorsed by Dr Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, on Sunday night.
It will be reviewed that the abdication of Edison Ehie before now as the factional Speaker of the state Place of Gathering ignited banter in certain quarters about his political future and, surprisingly, that of his head, Fubara.
Following the intensity of the political tumult that has inundated the state since October 29, Ehie drove a four-part group of the Waterways Gathering faithful to Fubara, given the split of the regulative chamber between allies of the lead representative and legislators faithful to the FCT Clergyman, Nyesom Wike, drove by Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule.
Political observers across Nigeria believed that Edison’s unexpected resignation as Speaker and legislator was a fulfillment of a portion of the contentious peace agreement that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu brokered to resolve the crisis in Rivers State between Fubara and his estranged godfather, Wike.
In addition, following his victory in the Supreme Court last week, Governor Fubara will swear in special advisers who will assist him in promoting good governance in the state.
Those to be confirmed as Extraordinary Guides incorporate Dr. Darlington Orji, a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) State Publicity Secretary who recently resigned from his position as Chief of Staff for the Ikwerre Local Government Council Area.
Others incorporate Sovereign Solomon Abel Squeeze, previous Overseer Panel Director, Obio-Akpor nearby government region, Barr. Aminayanasam Fiberesima, Engr. Ohia Prince and Deeyah Bariene
The Rivers State SSG stated in the statement, “The newly appointed Chief of Staff and Special Advisers, along with one guest each, are expected to be seated at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Monday, January 29, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. for the swearing-in ceremony by His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State, at 11:00 a.m.”
