Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says the FCT Administration is taking steps to address security concerns in some areas of the territory.
Wike made the assurance during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, prior to a closed-door emergency meeting with security agencies and other key stakeholders in the FCT.
The abduction and killing of residents by bandits has increased, particularly in the Kuje and Bwari Area Councils.
The minister, who acknowledged the challenges, urged residents not to panic because the government has taken steps to address the ugly situation.
“We’re all aware of the security situation in the FCT, particularly in Bwari and other areas where we’ve seen security challenges.”
“Yes, I understand that Sometimes the press overreacts to what is going on, but we are all concerned and have a responsibility to ensure that FCT is safe.
“We will do everything possible, and we assure Nigerians who live here that there is no need to panic.” “We are taking every precaution to ensure that the issues are resolved,” he said.
The meeting, according to the minister, was held to assess the security challenges in the FCT and to adopt practical solutions.
He stated that the meeting was expanded to include the Chairmen of the six area councils because they are also responsible for maintaining peace and security in their respective areas.
“As a result, we will put our heads together to come up with solutions; we will not sleep,
