On Saturday, there were tears when the body of Lady Caroline Aguiyi-Ironsi, who was the daughter of General Thomas Umunnankwe Aguiyi-Ironsi, the former Head of State of Nigeria, was buried in Umuana village, Ndume Ibeku, in the Umuahia North local government area of Abia State.
The community loved Lady Caroline, who passed away at the age of 68, for her selflessness and support of regular people.
The late Lady Caroline Aguiyi-Ironsi was characterized by Abia State Governor Alex Otti in his remarks at the ceremony as a woman of substance with a pure and natural heart of gold.
Ikechuckwu Emetu, Otti’s deputy, made the argument that Caroline was a really compassionate person who had a profound impact on a great number of people.
He called on the family to remain strong and look forward to the positive side of life in recognition of the legacy of love and generosity exemplified by the deceased.
Responding on behalf of the family, former Minister of Defence and son of late General Aguiyi-Ironsi, Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi thanked Governor Otti for identifying with the family during the trying period and prayed for God’s wisdom and good health to enable him deliver on his ongoing programmes in the state.
