According to Kebbi Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development Alhaji Nura Bala-Fingiller, the state government has taken steps to address political thuggery in all of its manifestations.
This was revealed by Bala-Fingiller during the State Ministry of Information and Culture’s weekly press briefing on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
The ministry is hosting the briefing, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), to highlight the accomplishments of the current administration in less than a year.
The commissioner stated: “I have been instructed by Governor Nasir Idris to look out well-known political goons, provide them with a meager stipend, and provide them with skill development training independent and, if feasible, labor employers
He continued by saying that the ministry was planning a youth sensitization program about the value of skill development and the risks associated with drug abuse in each of the state’s 21 local government areas.
In addition to working with foreign organizations on youth development projects, the program is run by the Kebbi Youth Council. Its goal is to support the government’s efforts in giving our teeming kids the tools they need to survive and become self-sufficient.
He claimed that sufficient preparations had already been completed by the ministry to build a standard skills acquisition training center specifically for the youth’s training in each of the state’s four Emirates.
The commissioner pointed up examples of accomplishments in beach soccer, including the Kebbi government’s hosting of the 2022 Beach Soccer League, the team’s participation in and victory in the Lagos International Beach Soccer Championship, and their status as the top team in Nigeria.
Speaking about the promotion of football players around Europe and the Middle East, Bala-Fingiller stated that six players were now undergoing trials, and that other players were getting ready to travel to Portugal in order to undergo trials and sign contracts for the 2023–2024 football season.
He continued by saying that the FIFA Grading Program nominated two of the state government’s referees because the ministry funded the Referees Development Program.
