Oyebanji stated that in the event that there was not enough ground for surrounding-house horticulture, food crops may also be grown in bags and containers.
The governor of Ekiti State’s wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has suggested that people in the state take up farming as a way to lessen the impact of the current economic difficulties.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Oyebanji gave advice on Wednesday while tending to her garden at the Government House, Ayoba Villa in the state capital of Ado Ekiti.
She advocated for everyone, regardless of social level, to begin farming in their communities.
She said that growing food crops on available space in the house will mitigate the impact of the current high cost of food and hardships related to the economy.
Oyebanji stated that in the event that there was not enough ground for surrounding-house horticulture, food crops may also be grown in bags and containers.
She continued by saying that engaging in such activities remained a way to strengthen the body and encourage a healthy lifestyle by consuming organic food crops.
In order to inspire other Ekiti State residents to start farming, increase food security, and stave off hunger, I started cultivating a vegetable garden at the Government House.
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, initiated the practice of growing a garden in every home as a way to address the issue of rising food prices and lessen the consequences of current financial difficulties,” she remarked.
Commissioners Ebenezer Boluwade for Agriculture and Food Security, Oyeniyi Adebayo for Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, and Omotayo Adeola for Investment, Trade, and Industry were in attendance.
