A well-known cultist who is suspected of carrying out several armed robberies and homicides in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt and other parts of the state has been detained, according to the Rivers State Police Command.
According to the police, two young people were killed in attacks that took place in the Diobu axis of Mile 1 in Port Harcourt between March 14 and March 17, 2024, by a cultist known as Samuel Nwokoma, 25, and his crew.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Grace Iringe-Koko, the command’s spokesperson, revealed this.
Iringe-Koko said that on March 14, the gang shot and killed Ede Sunday, 32, at Nanka Street by Lomumba, Dioubu, Port Harcourt, as well as George Johnson, 28, at Ojoto.

She added that the infamous cultist was captured as a result of reliable information gathered by members of the command’s C4i Strike Force working with a local vigilante. This led to an attack on the cult group known as “Blood Star” and the discovery of a cache of weapons and ammunition.
According to the statement, “On March 17, 2024, at around 0700hrs, Operatives of the C4i Strike Force, in cooperation with the Diobu Vigilante, apprehended one Samuel Nwokoma, a 25-year-old male who was a member of the infamous Blood Star Cult group, based on credible intelligence allegedly having a hand in several cult-related murders that occurred in Port Harcourt’s Diobu neighborhood. Samuel Nwokoma admitted his involvement in two particular incidences during the ensuing interrogation.
“He and his group ambushed and shot Ede Sunday, a 32-year-old man, along Nanka Street by Lomumba, Dioubu, Port Harcourt, on March 14, 2024, at about 2030 hours.
