The list of Peoples Democratic Party Caretaker Committee members for the state and local government areas that is making the rounds in the public has been branded as fraudulent by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Our reporter saw the list that was allegedly made public by the PDP national secretariat on Thursday.
But the governor referred to the list as the creation of publicity seekers when he spoke on Thursday at the opening of the Auto Spare Parts Trading, Commercial Center in Iriebe in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
This was said in a statement sent to Governor Nelson Chukwudi by the Chief Press Secretary.
Fubara clarified that the party’s national leadership had just convened and decided that in states where PDP executives’ terms had ended, they ought to stay in charge for the following three months.
The governor made it clear that neither the removal of any current officers nor the addition of new names to the current list of officers was approved by the National Executive Council.
“I know that many of you noticed something flying in the social media, daily,” he said. Allow me to briefly describe. We had a conference and decided that the PDP Executive Councils should be extended for a further three months, affecting not only Rivers State but all the other impacted states.
Additionally, the extension does not state that you are operating without the governor’s approval. I can therefore guarantee you that the lists you saw and the ones you amended will not stand.
We also decided that a NEC meeting should be held on April 18 to ratify that decision. For the record, so that you are aware of it.
Thus, what you are witnessing is the creation of desperate individuals who enjoy being in the spotlight. Indeed, the loudest roar comes from empty drums. Don’t worry about anything, then. Nothing is taking place.
The governor hinted at the anxiety that has gripped his critics in light of his warning from a day ago that he will surprise those who challenge him, and promised to keep them agitated.
According to the governor, Rivers State is still crucial to defend, which is why his administration decided to pursue peace in order to promote development.
Regarding the Automobile Spare Parts Trading and Commercial Center project, Fubara expressed his satisfaction at having yet another noteworthy influence on the state’s strategic governance.
He stressed that the project was not being undertaken out of any personal or commercial interest, but rather as proof of his sincere concern for the welfare of Rivers people and his desire to foster growth.
