We Don’t Have to Fight Each Other: Tinubu to Nigerians on Eid

At the Dodan Barracks in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu observed Eid el-Fitr prayers among devout Muslims.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), around 10:02 a.m., the president and senior government officials arrived at the Eid prayer site.

Speaking to the Muslim faithful through Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Tinubu asked Muslims to show tolerance and empathy for one another.

“We ought to keep up the positive behavior. Even if Ramadan is finished, we shouldn’t be arguing with one other. Religious unity is what we should have.

“We must keep up the compassion and kindness we displayed during Ramadan. Let’s help those in need. Always be giving. The President prayed, “May Almighty Allah protect and guide us in Nigeria.”

Before, when heading Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheik Sulaiman Abou Nolla, stated during the prayer session that fasting has numerous benefits.

Ramadan is the month of grace, mercies, forgiveness, and acceptance of prayers, the Imam stated, pointing out that fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam.

Insisting that togetherness and unity in diversity were crucial to national development, the cleric appealed on Nigerians to remain united.

He asked the populace to be law-abiding, disciplined, and to maintain peace and harmony in their respective communities while pleading with the government at all levels to aid the people.

He prayed for God to lead and shield the president, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and their lieutenants in making decisions that will serve the people’s interests.

Among the dignitaries present at the prayer ground were Gboyega Oyetola, the minister of blue economy, and Babatunde Fashola, the former minister of works and housing.

The Lagos Head of Service, Olanode Agoro, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Tinubu’s private secretary, and the Lagos Council of Traditional White Cap Chiefs are a few more.
