NASENI’s Massive Eco-Friendly Cookstoves: How Nigeria’s Groundbreaking Invention is Fighting Climate Change

The fight against climate change has been a major global concern in recent years, and Nigeria is not left out in this battle. However, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) under the leadership of Khalil Halilu, has achieved sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the country.

One of the recent developments under Khalil Halilu’s leadership is the strategic investment in Powerstove, a Nigerian company focused on producing cookstoves and promoting sustainability through carbon credit projects. This investment will not only provide Powerstove with the necessary growth capital but also technical assistance to ramp up production from 100,000 units to over 1 million units per year. This increase in production will contribute significantly to reducing Nigeria’s carbon footprint and promote a more sustainable energy landscape in the country.

Khalil Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, reiterated the agency’s commitment to addressing climate change proactively. The investment in Powerstove goes beyond supporting an impact-driven enterprise; it also positions NASENI to benefit from carbon credit revenue, further reinforcing its dedication to sustainable development. This move also demonstrates NASENI’s belief in building a resilient and sustainable ecosystem of innovative Nigerian companies that can drive decarbonisation efforts.

In addition to the investment in Powerstove, NASENI has also been making waves in other areas. The agency recently collaborated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria. This partnership will leverage technology to streamline the process of business registration and make it more efficient for entrepreneurs and investors.

Furthermore, NASENI has also sealed a tripartite deal with Nasarawa State and Bob Track to assemble tractors and other agricultural equipment in the state. This move will not only boost local production but also contribute to the country’s efforts towards achieving food security. With such collaborations and initiatives, NASENI is not only promoting sustainable development but also supporting economic growth and job creation in Nigeria.
