In a surprising turn of events, Hilda Dokubo, the Labour Party Chairman in Rivers State, has been suspended from her position as chairperson of the party in Asari Toru Local Government Area. The decision, which came after an emergency meeting of the party’s ward executive committee, was later ratified by the Asari Toru LGA Executives.
The suspension, effective July 15, follows allegations of financial misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of party regulations leveled against Dokubo. These allegations were reportedly substantiated following a thorough investigation by the party’s ward officials.
The letter announcing Dokubo’s suspension was signed by several key party officials, including the Ward Chairman Ajalamonia Ibama, Secretary Lole Amacheer, Treasurer Emmanuel Ibamathe, Women Leader Osaki Dieypiriye, and Publicity Secretary Osaki Dokubo.
Dokubo, a prominent figure in Nollywood and an active politician, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations or her suspension.
This development has sparked discussions within political circles in Rivers State, with implications potentially affecting the Labour Party’s operations in the region.
