To Reflect On Our History, Existence, And Future, we Shall Utilize Igbo Day.

An Igbo Organization, Anya-Ndi-Igbo, says Igbo individuals will utilize the Igbo Day, celebrated on Sept. 29 yearly, reflect on the essence of their existence  and regret the miserable situation in the South East zone.

The Leader of the gathering, Chris Okoye, revealed this in a proclamation on Sunday in Enugu.

As per him, it is an event Igbos in Nigeria and the Diaspora will stop and consider their starting point, character, current conditions, and what the questionable future holds coming up for them.

He expressed that the day was for Igbos to recall their dads who made the organizations and upsides of Igbo life and rededicate themselves to regard for human existence as well as grit despite risk.

Others are their benevolent commitment to the family and the local area, discipline, control and honesty as the anchors on which their lives rest.

“It is the day we honor the incomparable Igbo people who battled fearlessly against English oppressors and the people who even forfeited their lives in the battle for Nigerian opportunity.

“A day we remember the people who were mangled, killed and ruined in the different slaughters in Nigeria from 1952 to date and the people who paid the preeminent sacrifice for our proceeded with presence as Ndi Igbo during the Nigeria/Biafra war.

“It is also a day we think about our children, grandchildren and the calamities which, if we do not take sufficient and effective care to address, may befall them in the ever-changing dynamics of Nigerian politics,” Okoye said.

He further described the day as a time for sober reflection and prayer to Almighty God to guide Igbo people in all their endeavors.

“It is refreshing to recall that Ndigbo entered the 20th century as a proud race.

“Regrettably, we ended it as an endangered culture. Some of us had expected that the beginning of the 21st century would have ignited a sustainable period of self-reclamation.

“Unfortunately, we have not been able to begin that process because of our failure to take our destiny in our hands.”

Okoye made sense of that the set of experiences and the advancement of Nigeria would have been very unique without the spearheading jobs played by numerous Igbos in different circles of human undertaking.

“It is the point at which we think back that we ask what social set-up and esteem framework that probably delivered such greats, rather than what is befalling Ndigbo today.

“We have the potential and assets yet, tragically, we have not had the option to tackle the huge possibilities we have in the improvement of Ala-Igbo.

“This subsequently makes the plan for the preparation of our kin to look inwards to outfit our inward assets and assets to shape our aggregate predetermination,” the president said.

He made sense of that Community gatherings would be held in each Congregation in Igboland, different pieces of Nigeria and in the Diaspora, while a presentation of Igbo commitments to world progress and an exceptional petition for the endurance of the Igbo country would likewise highlight noticeably.

The News Organization of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Anya-Ndi-Igbo is a non-sectarian, socio-political and monetary improvement situated association.
