Muslim organizations affiliated with the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) urged President Bola Tinubu to “review” the country’s “relationships with Israel until it respects international law and the rights of Palestinians.”
The council also emphasized the need of Nigeria mobilizing aid to support the people of Palestine.
SCSN President, Sheikh AbdurRasheed Hadiyyatullah, termed the prevailing conflict in Palestine as genocide during a news conference in Abuja.
He claims that, aside from its crime and lack of compassion, it demonstrates the inadequacy of global institutions built after World War II to safeguard mankind from dictatorship.
He chastised the US for vetoing a United Nations Resolution calling for humanitarian pauses in the battle to let supplies into Gaza.
According to Hadiyyatullah, the international community has failed to address the source of the problem since the US has repeatedly supplied unwavering support to what he calls the Zionist invaders of Palestine.
The head of the SCSN said, “The Federal Government, on behalf of the teeming Muslims and Christians and people of conscience in Nigeria, should, as a matter of urgency, provide relief materials to the besieged Palestinians who are in dire need of food, clothing, medicine and other essentials.”
This happened as the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CCSO) urged the United Nations to pressure Israel to stop its “war crimes.”
At a news conference in Lagos, the coalition encouraged international leaders, including China, to invest in the peace process and put a stop to violence The United States has a monopoly.
While speaking to media, Comrade Adekunle Wizeman-Ajayi, General Secretary of United Action for Democracy, said, “We call on the world to rise in defense of justice and on the side of the oppressed.” Palestinians are human beings who must not be regarded as such.”
