Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has stated that Erling Haaland will only win the Ballon d’Or if he continues to score and win championships.
Guardiola was commenting after Haaland scored twice in Tuesday night’s Champions League triumph over Young Boys.
The 23-year-old has now scored 15 goals in as many games this season.
Haaland finished second behind Lionel Messi this year, but Guardiola was questioned if the 23-year-old can win the accolade again next year.
“If he and his teammates can win more trophies, he will have a chance.”
“If he doesn’t, he won’t win,” Guardiola stated.
Haaland currently has 39 goals in 34 Champions League games and 67 goals in 70 games.
