Kaduna Pensioners Applaud Government Sani’s Pension, Death Benefits Total More Over $3 Billion

Leaders of labour, trade, and pensioners’ groups have praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for releasing funds for gratuities and death payments on schedule.

Under the Defined Benefit and Contributory Pension Schemes, death payments are paid to the relatives of deceased beneficiaries.

In three separate letters, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) praised the state government for the prompt distribution of the monies, particularly in light of present economic circumstances.

“We write to appreciate Your Excellency for the approval and release of ₦3.1 billion for the payment of gratuities to retirees and death benefits to families of deceased retirees. “As stated in the letter,

According to the NLC Chairman in Kaduna, Comrade Ayuba Suleiman, “this gesture will serve as an immediate intervention to alleviate the sufferings of both retirees and families of our fallen heroes who served our dear state diligently.”

The NUP and TUC also praised Sani’s decision to release the monies, stating, “You excelled as a Senator by sponsoring bills that touched the lives of many Nigerians, and now you have gone ahead to set aside this huge fund to pay gratuities and death benefits.”

In their praise letters, the organizations expressed their unwavering support for Gov. Sani’s administration and urged for the formation of the Board of the Kaduna State Pension Bureau to ensure openness.

the money were authorized by the Kaduna State Government in October 2023.

Following the verification procedure in Kaduna State’s three senatorial zones, approximately 1,000 retirees and relatives of dead recipients are expected to benefit from the monies, according to the Kaduna State Pension Bureau.
