In a statement released by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their dedication, sacrifice, and hard work to get this far in the tournament. He also acknowledged the challenges they overcame with progressively better performances as they advanced to the finals.
The President had urged Nigerians to have a positive attitude, stressing that Nigeria’s tenacity, discipline, and will on the field of play had allowed them to win a significant victory in the eyes of both Africa and the rest of the world.
“Let this fleeting incident inspire us to work even harder, rather than depressing us. Our great country is united by the tricolor symbol of resiliency, happiness, optimism, responsibility, and unwavering love.
“To those beloved Nigerian youths who are using their skills to express themselves in their communities and draw lines in the sand while playing football in their little rectangles of play—you have the potential to become our heroes one day; never give up on your goals. “My administration is here to fulfill dreams,” the President had declared.
