Diego Chavez, a Mexican football player who was a striker for FC Juarez, died at the age of 28 following his involvement in a tragic vehicle accident.
Chavez reportedly lost control of his red Volkswagen Beetle and collided with a post, according to TUDN.
After the collision, he was stranded inside the car.
On Wednesday, his team honored their attacker with a heartfelt tribute after confirming Chavez’s passing.
“We inform the entire FC Juárez community that our player Diego “El Puma” Chávez passed away early this morning on February 14 in a car accident,” the Facebook statement stated.

“This sad news breaks the hearts of all of us who are associated with this institution—not just the players, but also the staff, directors, and technical staff. We must bid farewell to a member of our extended family today,” the statement said.
After spending the 2016–17 season on loan at Juarez, Chavez has been enjoying his second stint at the team.
He played with Carlos A Mannucci of Peru between 2022 and 2023, but he also had a brief stint at Salamanca, a lower division team in Spain, and he spent the rest of his career in his native country.
He went back to Juarez last year, and played 46 times for the club across his two spells, scoring three goals.
His final appearance came as a substitute on January 29, and he was an unused substitute in their 2-1 defeat against Chivas on Sunday
