Security services have been tasked by Tinubu to make sure that kidnappings in Nigeria cease.
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, stated in Abuja on Monday that the Federal Government did not extort money to free children kidnapped in Sokoto and Kaduna earlier in March.
He stated that President Bola Tinubu had made it plain that no ransom should be given to bandits and kidnappers in order to discourage them at the conclusion of a Federal Executive Council meeting.
As instructed by the president, the minister gave assurances that the kids had been securely and healthily reconnected with their families.
According to him, Tinubu had also issued a challenge to security services to guarantee that kidnappings in Nigeria would cease.
Idris stated the government would not spare individuals found guilty of the heinous acts, but would cooperate with those willing to offer advice that could put an end to them.
“As promised, the children were saved and reunited with their relatives, and no ransom was paid. Mr. President and cabinet members are delighted to observe this.
“The National Security Advisor, Service Chiefs, and security agents in particular deserve special recognition from the Federal Executive Council and the President for their tireless efforts in securing the return of the abducted children to their homes.
“The government is committed to safeguarding Nigerians’ lives and belongings. In addition, the President has directed security services to make sure that kidnappings in this nation come to an end,” Idris stated.
Furthermore, he mentioned Tinubu had given cabinet members and other employees the task of accelerating the delivery of government relief initiatives, including school loans, consumer credit schemes, and other social initiatives.
Wale Edun, the minister of finance and coordination minister of the economy, stated in his speech that the president had given his approval for the creation of a task group called the Economic Management Team.
According to him, the team would work on administration-sponsored programs for economic revitalization for six months.
According to Edun, Nigeria is already receiving offers of Eurobonds to fund government initiatives, but no decision has been made about the proposal.
