Ya’u Ja’afar, a fictitious soldier, was apprehended by Kaduna State Police Command agents for allegedly robbing and extorting locals.
In a statement released on Monday, the public relations officer for the state police, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated that the suspect was taken into custody by Millennium City Police Division officers after a citizen’s report.
According to Hassan, Ja’afar and his fugitive companions stole a firearm from a man named Abdulrashid Musa.
An Army camouflage and a weapon were found when the suspect was tracked down to his home, the police official continued.
“The arrest was the result of a terrifying encounter on March 16, 2024, when Ja’afar and his associates—who are still at large—used a pistol to rob Abdulrashid Musa,” the speaker stated. The attackers left along with many cell phones and N25,500 in cash.
Ja’afar was apprehended by the surveillance team quickly, and a check of his home produced further evidence, including a weapon and Army camouflage.
“Ya’u Ja’afar’s arrest is evidence of the Kaduna State Police Command, led by CP Ali Audu Dabigi, and their unwavering pursuit of justice as they work to create a more secure and safe environment for everyone.”
