Police Comb Suspected Kidnappers Hideout in Abuja

On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command searched the paths and hiding places of alleged kidnappers in the bushes and hills around Apo-resettlement in Abuja.

This was revealed in a statement released on Wednesday by SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s public relations officer.

The press release stated, “On April 1, 2024, at approximately 11 am, the FCT Police Command agents, under the command of Commissioner of Police CP Benneth Igweh, personally stormed the hills and dense underbrush surrounding Zone A and B of Apo-resettlement and its environs to implement some security measures in the area, as it is believed to be kidnapping routes and criminal hideouts.

“The clearance operation comprised the proactive deployment of police officers for surveillance patrol and the burning of unauthorized buildings and shrubbery surrounding the hills, as There is enough staffing on the hills’ entry and exit routes.

Igweh encouraged locals to be watchful and report any suspicious activity to the police, according to the statement.

An AK-47 weapon with two magazines full of fifty rounds of ammo was found during a search of the kidnapper’s hideout in the Orumba North Local Government Area, according to a March article by PUNCH.
