The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare and well-being of all citizens, regardless of their abilities. In a recent announcement, the Special Adviser on Special Needs to the governor, Kamil Aransi, revealed that Governor Adeleke has directed that all persons with disabilities in the state must be duly registered without any fee.
This registration exercise, which will take place over a period of 10 days, aims to accurately determine the number of individuals with special needs in Osun State. This information will be used by the government to plan and cater to the specific needs of these individuals and to create a more inclusive society.
It is no secret that persons with disabilities often face various challenges in their daily lives, and oftentimes, their needs are overlooked. However, with this registration exercise, the government of Osun State is taking a proactive step towards addressing these challenges and ensuring that individuals with special needs receive the necessary support and resources to lead fulfilling lives.
The data collected from the registration will also assist the government in developing targeted programs and services for persons with disabilities. This will ensure that these individuals are not left behind and have equal opportunities to thrive in their communities.
Governor Adeleke’s commitment to creating an inclusive society goes beyond this registration exercise. In just 16 months into his tenure, he has made significant strides in various sectors, without taking any loans. This is a testament to his pledge to govern with available resources only.
Under his leadership, the mining sector is being repositioned, illegal mining is being curtailed, and the health sector is being revitalized with over 100 Primary Health Care Centres being renovated and upgraded. In addition, an N1.3 billion water contract has been awarded for the rehabilitation of the Ora Water Works Scheme.
The governor’s administration is also making massive strides in infrastructure development with the construction of flyover bridges and road dualisation projects. This will not only improve the state’s infrastructure but also create job opportunities for the citizens of Osun State.
Apart from these, the government is also focusing on agriculture, women’s development, youth development, and creative development. This holistic approach is aimed at creating a better Osun State for all its citizens.
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to the well-being and development of all individuals in Osun State is commendable. The registration exercise for persons with disabilities is a step in the right direction towards creating an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. His administration’s achievements so far in various sectors without any loans are also worth applauding.
