President Bola Tinubu has offered his sympathies to the family of Issa Hayatou, the former leader of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who died at the age of 77 on Thursday.
Hayatou also held the position of acting President of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the global governing body for football.
In a statement released on Friday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tinubu conveyed his condolences to the Cameroonian Football Federation, the citizens of Cameroon, and the broader African football community. He referred to the death of the esteemed football administrator as a significant loss and emphasized Hayatou’s vital role in advancing the sport both in Africa and internationally.
Tinubu offered prayers for the eternal peace of the deceased and strength for his family during this challenging period.
