President Bola Tinubu is set to visit China next week to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, aiming to bolster economic cooperation between the two nations. Tinubu, who has initiated significant reforms in Africa’s largest economy, will attend the China-Africa Cooperation Summit in Beijing, where discussions will center around the economy, agriculture, and satellite technology.
During his visit, Tinubu will also tour key Chinese companies, including Huawei Technologies and the China Rail and Construction Corporation, as Nigeria pushes forward with a high-speed rail project linking Ibadan to Abuja. In addition, he plans to meet with CEOs from various sectors, including ICT, oil and gas, aluminum production, and financial services, seeking investment to address Nigeria’s economic challenges, such as inflation and crude oil theft.
